I'm Back in the Saddle Again!

Daily Mileage=95; Trip Mileage=2162

Today we drove up "Lookout Mountain" to Buffalo Bill's grave. They have a cute museum which actually tells you about Col. William Cody a.k.a. Buffalo Bill. Over 25,000 people came to his funeral because he was so well-known. This may not sound so impressive except he's buried about 8,000 feet up on a mountain with hairpin turns all the way up it! And, the roads weren't as good back in 1917 when he died. He was a true western cowboy and did everything: hunting buffalo then trying to save them from extinction, fighting and befriending Indians, and even had his own traveling show which included Annie Oakley. By the way, Rich felt right at home riding this steed. (Notice the horse isn't moving too fast, Rich isn't either. He just loves posing for our photographs!)

The view from the top is fantastic and that was why Buffalo Bill wanted to be laid to rest up there looking down over Denver. Can you blame him?

We also had a wonderful trip to Boulder with Suzy Buglewicz. She again played tour guide for us showing us all the interesting and beautiful spots out here. Boulder is the kind of small town (with a big UC campus) that makes you want to have a drink at one of the many outdoor cafes and watch the artists and people go by while soaking in the weather. No wonder Robert Redford looked so good! (Suzy said he went to UC at Boulder.)
So we had a nice ride there, shopped, walked around and had charming lunch at a Mediterranean bistro, named MED.

Now it is time to say good-bye to the Buglewicz's who have been very kind to us. A special thanks goes to Suzy who not only is a full-time Mom to three (or is it four with Tim?) but helps run their business, is involved with tons of volunteer activities and writes for a local magazine! How's that for mother of the year??? So in addition to all of this, she took time out of this crazy schedule to play tour guide for us. We really appreciate it!
We thought a final photo of us and the Buglewicz's under the "Golden" Arch would be a nice way to end this portion of our trip. We aren't cowboys/girls yet, but we're sure getting closer than we ever were!
Good night y'all and remember to take them spurs off before you climb into bed!
Love, Mare & Rich

p.s. We have not been to see
Buffalo Bill's grave site.
We will have to do that next time we are there.

If you do Buffalo Bill's grave take the easy road up unless you're into driving on the hair pin turns and the thrill of it all!
